Shahid Azmi shot dead

Shahid Azmi was shot dead. Shahid Azmi was the lawyer of 26/11 accused Fahim Ansari. Shahid Azmi was shot dead on Thursday, 11 February at his office in suburban Kurla.
The Police reported that four men dashed into his office posing as clients in Taxi Men Colony in Kurla and shot two bullets into him at point blank range. Later, Azmi was taken to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar where he was declared dead. The culprits fled from the scene after the incident.
Earlier, Azmi had received threats. He was even attacked with sharp weapons outside his office which led to hospitalisation for some days.
Shahid, who was nephew of Samajwadi Party leader and Govandi MLA Abu Asim Azmi, had also appeared as defence counsel for the accused in July 11 Mumbai local train blasts.
